Real help, when you need it — no appointment necessary.
On-demand tutoring is exactly what it sounds like — a live session available whenever you need one, without the commitment of a scheduled enrollment. Your child logs in, submits their question, pays for a session, and works through it in real time with a tutor.
It's designed for the moments when homework becomes a wall, a test is tomorrow, or a concept just isn't clicking — and what your child needs is a real person walking through it with them right now.
From "I'm stuck" to working through it together — the whole thing takes minutes to get started.
Head to live.thescholarsroom.com. The page tells you instantly whether a live session is available, how many spots are open in the queue, and your estimated wait time. No availability? Hours are posted so you always know when to return.
Fill out a short form — a session nickname, your email, the question or topic you're stuck on, and whether you'd like a written transcript emailed after. No account required, no lengthy setup.
Secure Stripe checkout handles payment in seconds. Your spot in the queue isn't reserved until payment is confirmed — this keeps the queue fair and sessions uninterrupted. Pricing is based on your student's grade band.
You'll land in a waiting room showing your position in line and your estimated wait time, updating in real time. When it's your turn, you're moved into the session automatically — no clicking, no refreshing.
Your tutor is in the room. Sessions are flexible — generally between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on what your child needs. Enough time to work through a problem, clarify a concept, or get unstuck before a test without overstaying the moment everything clicks. When you're done, the room closes cleanly and — if you opted in — a full transcript lands in your inbox within seconds.

What grades and subjects does on-demand tutoring cover?
On-demand sessions are available for students in grades 2 through 12, covering Math and ELA. If you're unsure whether your child's specific topic falls within scope, submit your question and we'll let you know before the session begins.
How long is a session?
Sessions are flexible, typically running between 20 and 30 minutes depending on the problem at hand. For most focused questions — a single problem type, a concept that isn't clicking, a paragraph they can't get started on — that's plenty of time. If your child needs more sustained support, our regular enrollment packages are a better fit.
What if there's a technical issue or my tutor becomes unavailable after I've paid?
It happens — internet connections drop, life gets in the way. If a technical disruption or unexpected unavailability prevents your session from taking place, you'll receive a full refund immediately. No forms, no waiting, no back-and-forth.
Can my child use on-demand tutoring regularly?
Absolutely. Many families use it as a drop-in complement to their regular schedule — especially during homework hours or before tests. That said, if your child has recurring academic gaps, our full enrollment program includes a personalized learning plan and ongoing progress tracking that goes much deeper.
Do I need to be present during the session?
That's entirely up to you. Younger students (grades 2–5) generally benefit from a parent nearby for the first session or two. Older students are typically comfortable on their own. The transcript option means you can always review what was covered afterward.
How is this different from enrolling in regular tutoring?
On-demand is built for immediate, in-the-moment help. Regular enrollment is a structured, long-term commitment that starts with a full assessment of your child's needs and builds from there. Learn about enrollment here.
